Introduction
Well, you just obviously downloaded my Mp3
script for Tribes 2. This script is designed to make the MP3 player built
into Tribes 2 more functional.
If you have played Tribes 2 for very long, you probably have
noticed that the ingame music is pretty much preset and unchangeable.
You may or may not know that the music in Tribes 2 is based on Mp3 technology.
The
Advanced Mp3 Player script is designed to make using the Tribes built
in Mp3 player easy to use and accessible to any tribesman or tribeswoman
out there :)
How
to install/use it
Installation is simple. Just unzip the file over top of
your Tribes 2 directory.
NOT the gamedata directory, just the base tribes 2 directory, before the
gamedata one.
The
script is fairly straight forward to use. First you have to use the included
playlist editor to create a playlist for tribes to use.
Creating a playlist

First, copy all the Mp3 files you wish to use into the Tribes 2 music
directory and launch the playlist editor is will be located in your tribes
directory.
This directory is commonly /gamedata/base/music/.
The playlist generator works by taking all the files in this directory
and creating a playlist from that. In future releases, I want to create
an interface for ordering the files directly, but until then the scripts
just adds them all and orders by date.
Next, Change the install directory to match where you installed Tribes
on your machine.
The backup checkbox will make a backup copy of the last playlist you created.
Once you have the correct playlist directory defined, click generate playlist.
This will create the playlist file. It is called playlist.cs and is in
the /scripts/autoexec directory.
As long as you see "Done." in the playlist editor output window,
you are ready to go! :)
Controlling
the MP3 player
So far I have not created a GUI for the new MP3 player.
So for now you have to use the keyboard to control it.
Here is the list of keys to control the MP3 player:
|
Keys
|
| Play |
Ctrl
A |
| Stop |
Ctrl
S |
| Next
Track |
Ctrl
D |
| Last
Track |
Ctrl
F |
| Restart
List |
Ctrl
Z |
| View
Playlist |
Ctrl
X |
| View
Current Track |
Ctrl
C |
Basically,
you hit the control key (lower left area of the keyboard) and the corresponding
letter and the MP3 player will perform the corresponding action.
You can control the MP3 player from anywhere in the game,
not necessarily in a level or online game.
